Patton SmartNode 10200

SmartNode 10200 media gateway allows adding VoIP capabilities to networks; it ensures the delivery of VoIP service by connecting voice traffic between the PSTN networks based on TDM (Timedivision Multiplexing) and IP networks such as the Internet.

Providing local, long distance or international voice services, you have to be interconnected with many other providers using DS3, STM-1 or T1/E1/J1 links. It is essential for the providers of the service to be able to quickly establish new connections without the need of constantly deploying new devices. SmartNode 10200 Series media gateway for that reason offers high flexibility and can be adjusted to support STM-1, DS3, T1/E1/J1 interfaces.

Each SmartNode 10200 media gateway ensures support for the concurrent use of SS7/C7, SIP, CAS (R2), SIGTRAN and ISDN signaling in the same device. The possibility of providing both conversion and switching between multiple IP and TDM signaling protocols simultaneously is important in order to enable the cost savings and operational flexibility that make service providers expanding their carrier relations and converging networks.

SN10200 Series devices also support the H.248 media gateway control protocol, which allows any H.248 compliant third party softswitch to manage a media gateway. While the call control interactions are managed by the softswitch, she SmartNode 102000 takes care of call media transmission as well as any other necessary transcoding.
