Xtreme Networks, Inc. was founded in 2002 by Luis B. Mata. Mata is the chief engineer of the Matrix switch. He comes from an impressive, strong background in software and networks design. Working for Sun Trust Banks, Mata was introduced to the Voice over Internet Protocol technology. He then was employed by Qwest Communications. Working at Sun Trust Banks and at Qwest Communications, Mata realized the importance of VOIP in the technology market world. In his first attempt, Mata tired to develop a soft switch that would allow carrier resellers to handle loads of traffic via VOIP. All calls with virtual telephone cards are preceded by the entrance of the access code. After dialing the access code the subscriber will be offered to dial the virtual card number, and after that the number of the desired subscriber.
