ATSI Communications, Inc. is an established provider of international telecommunications services. Through the deployment of its paired-market strategy, ATSI is serving the rapidly growing market between the United States and specific niche markets within Latin America, with an emphasis on Mexico. The Latin American telecommunications market is considered one of the largest in the world with current estimates that is will reach a value of $113 billion by 2005. More specifically, Mexico is the top producer of long distance traffic with the U.S. based on revenues. ATSI was founded in December 1993 to capitalize on the opportunities anticipated from accelerated growth in telecommunications usage and the recently enacted deregulation and privatization of the telecommunications markets within Mexico and other Latin American countries. The Company provides network and carrier services, including voice and data. In July 2000, ATSI secured a highly-valuable Long Distance Concession in Mexico, which will allow the Company to expand its network within the country for transport of its voice and data services and interconnection to Mexico`s local network. ATSI`s Network Services customers include a variety of carriers, including tier-one and tier-two carriers, generating traffic both in the U.S. and Mexico.ATSI`s customer base includes multi-national companies with that require Internet transport, long distance termination and origination in the U.S. and international private networks for voice, data and facsimile transport. Because ATSI has acquired the proper licenses, and negotiated favorable interconnection agreements with various foreign telecommunication companies, the Company is well positioned to reap benefits from its highly reliable, competitive and low cost VoIP telecommunications infrastructure. Other strong competitive strengths of ATSI include its talented bilingual, bicultural management team that understand the Latino markets and from a financial perspective, the Company has minimal debt and is experiencing improving financial performance-important factors in today`s "back to basics" telecom marketplace.

RTP Delivers Multimedia Data In Real Time

RTP Delivers Multimedia Data In Real TimeA Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) is a protocol standard defined by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) that outlines a management system for programs using real-time transmission of data through mutlicast or unicast network services in multimedia situations. Originally designed by the IETF for videoconferencing for multiple participants, the protocol is largely used in Voice over Internet Protocol applications. Despite its name, the protocol cannot guarantee real-time delivery of data, however, the RTP does compensate for jitters and can detect when data arrives out of sequence, both issues being popular in VoIP communication. In IP telephony, RTP works with a signaling protocol, such as SIP or H.323, in order to set up connections in a network.
